Silage – Hay – Technology
Our silage technologies help you in many areas. Our hay and forage technology helps you: reduce your ecological footprint, improve the quality of your forage, increase your productivity, lower your production costs, limit the risk of accidents, reduce the operator’s workload, document your harvest and much more.
Automation and guidance
Focus on what matters and let your equipment drive you. You can focus on what you need to do to get quality hay and forage.
Telematics
Telematics includes the following technology:
- Equipment usage information
- Equipment health monitoring
- Equipment optimization
- Automatic data backup to the cloud
- Remote connection
- Information sharing between machines
Forage and baling operations are the starting point for properly feeding your livestock. Our telematics solutions allow you to control the quality of your silage and baling operations. In addition, your self-propelled forage harvester or tractor will alert you in case of problems so that you can act quickly to avoid downtime in the field and plan maintenance operations.
Your forage and baling data are is essential to help you control the quality of the work done, adjust quantity of preservatives and cutting hash length, targeting opportunities for improvement and much more. With our telematics systems, you are connected to your equipment and have quick and easy access to this information.
In addition, when you choose to share this information with our support teams, we can help you optimize your tractor or self-propelled forage harvester. We will also track equipment alerts so that action can be taken proactively to minimize downtime and plan maintenance during less critical periods.
Hay and forage technology
Autotrac RowSense™
A set of sensors installed on the header of the forage harvester determine the position of the plants to ensure that they are well aligned during harvesting.
Active Fill Control
The Active Fill system automatically directs the discharge spout to optimize trailer loading. When it is full, the system automatically looks for the next trailer to fill.
HarvestLab™
HarvestLab™ measures forage components such as dry matter level, ADF, NDF, crude ash, crude protein, sugar, XF and XA in real time. In addition, it works with AutoLoc™ technology to adjust the cutting length length of cut of the forage. HarvestLab™ also allows you to document your yield and dry matter level.
Once your harvest is complete, you can use HarvestLab™ to analyze the forage directly on the farm and adjust your rations.
AutoLoc™
Combined with HarvestLab™, the AutoLoc™ system automatically varies cutting length the length of cut of the forage based on crop moisture levels. As a result, this technology helps improve bunk density and reduce long particles in dry corn.
Advance Header Control
This technology allows you to better follow ground contours. This avoids plowing with your harvester nose and reduces wear and tear on it.
ProTouch
The ProTouch system enables the operator to switch between road transport and field operation at the touch of a button. The system uses a configurable sequence to adjust the following:
- Spout position
- Header folding
- Compressor roll position
- Beacons
- Four-wheel drive
- Engine speed
Additive dosing system
Incorporating the right amount of additive increases silage quality, improves the ensiling process, supports the conservation process and reduces the reheat of forage after opening. John Deere’s built-in additive application technology automatically adjusts flow based on dry matter levels. Also, the operation can be fully documented for future consultation. An automatic cleaning mode keeps the system clean after use.
Baler monitor
The baler monitor system allows the operator to adjust and configure the baler. Bale size and knife adjustments can be done directly from the cab. In addition, the display allows for better positioning of the hay in the bale for consistent density.
Tracteur Baler Automation
Baler automation technology reduces the operator’s workload. When the bale is ready, the system slows down and stops the tractor, then the operator presses the brake to bring it to a complete stop. Once stopped, the baler will open the gate, eject the bale and close the gate.
Moisture sensor for L-series baler
The built-in moisture sensor displays the moisture level as the hay is being baled.
Weighing system for L-series baler
The weighing system provides information throughout the baling process, allowing the operator to make more consistent bales.
Bale Mobile
This application records individual information (moisture and weight) on each bale.
Decision-making support
Now is the time to harvest!
Our tools enable you to compare varieties, verify the results of certain tests, plan your work, monitor progress, and make sure the work is properly executed.
Operations and equipment optimization
To get the full return on your investment, you need to optimize the performance of your equipment: tractor, baler and forage harvester. This means making sure your equipment is properly maintained and adjusted to field conditions.
Our tools allow you to analyze performance, schedule your maintenance, adjust equipment according to conditions and monitor performance and progress.
